Privacy & Cookies
MotoGP101 is a free guide to MotoGP for beginners. You don't need an account to use it, and we collect as little about you as we can. This page explains what is collected, by whom, and the choices you have.
Who we are
MotoGP101 (motogp101.com) is an independent fan site run from the United Kingdom. For anything about this policy or your data, use our contact form.
The short version
- No accounts, no sign-ups. We don't ask for your details to read the site.
- No tracking cookies of our own. Our visitor statistics are cookie-free.
- Advertising. Ads on the site come from Google AdSense, which may use cookies — in the UK and EEA only with your consent (see Advertising).
- If you contact us, we receive what you type into the form and use it only to reply.
What we collect and why
- Visitor statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page views and see which pages are read, where visitors come from (for example a search engine or social site), their country, and the type of browser and device. It uses no cookies, doesn't identify you, and doesn't follow you to other sites; we only ever see totals.
- Contact form. If you send us a message, we receive your name, email address, the topic you pick and your message. It is delivered to our inbox by Web3Forms, and Cloudflare Turnstile checks that the sender is a person rather than a spam bot. We use it only to deal with your message and keep it no longer than needed — normally no more than 12 months.
- Comments on our social posts. When you comment on or reply to a MotoGP101 post on Bluesky, Mastodon, Threads or Facebook, we read and store the comment, your public name and handle, and a link to it, so that we can reply. It is already public on that platform; we don't use it for anything else.
- Reading progress on your device. The beginner guide path remembers which guides you've read using your browser's own storage. It never leaves your device, and clearing your browser data removes it.
- Security and delivery. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which, like any web host, processes technical information such as your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from attacks. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies for this.
Advertising
We use Google AdSense to show adverts, which helps cover the cost of running the site. Adverts appear only in the clearly labelled "Advertisement" spaces.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your previous visits to this and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
- Your consent (UK and EEA). Visitors in the UK and European Economic Area are asked by Google's consent message whether to allow personalised ads and cookies. If you decline, you may still see non-personalised ads, which use cookies only for things like limiting how often you see an ad and preventing fraud. You can change your choice at any time through the privacy option in that message.
- You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google's My Ad Center, and from other participating vendors at aboutads.info (or youronlinechoices.eu in the UK and Europe).
- How Google uses data from sites that show its ads is explained in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
Cookies in brief
- Our own: none.
- Cloudflare: strictly necessary security cookies only, when needed to protect the site.
- Google AdSense: advertising cookies, subject to your consent where required (above).
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works without them.
Our legal basis
Under UK data protection law we rely on our legitimate interests for cookie-free statistics, site security, replying to messages and replying to public comments, and on your consent for personalised advertising and advertising cookies where the law requires it.
Who else is involved
The services above — Cloudflare (hosting, security, statistics, Turnstile), Web3Forms (contact form delivery) and Google (advertising) — process data on our behalf or as independent providers under their own privacy policies. Some of them may process data outside the UK, with the safeguards the law requires. We never sell your personal information.
Links to other sites
Articles link to other websites, and our social media profiles are hosted by those platforms. Their own privacy policies apply when you visit them.
Children
MotoGP101 is not aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information.
Your rights
You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct or delete it, or to stop using it. Contact us through the contact form. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If we change how the site uses information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
MotoGP101 is an independent educational site and is not affiliated with MotoGP™ or MotoGP Sports Entertainment Group (formerly Dorna Sports).
